My Morning Jacket
My Morning Jacket is a Grammy-nominated American rock band. The band comprises Jim James (singer-songwriter, guitarist), Tom “Two-Tone Tommy” Blankenship (bassist), Patrick Hallahan (drummer), Carl Broemel (guitarist, pedal steel guitarist, saxophonist, vocalist), and Bo Koster (keyboardist, percussionist, vocalist). The band’s debut, The Tennessee Fire, was released on Darla Records.
In 2000, the band was augmented by the addition of Danny Cash (layout and keyboard instruments). Although the second album At Dawn was recorded with drummer J. Glenn, he had already left the band by the time the album was released by Darla in 2001. J. Glenn was replaced by Chris ‘KC’ Guetig. In May 2002 James’ childhood friend Patrick Hallahan replaced Guetig. On Sunday, December 6th, Yim Yames will perform at 21C in Louisville, KY.
The benefit show will feature a reading by Kentucky Authors Wendell Berry, Erik Reece, and Rebecca Howell. Daniel Martin Moore will also perform. Proceeds from the show will benefit Kentuckians For The Commonwealth and the International Contemporary Art Foundation. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased at Ear X-Tacy.
My Morning Jacket is proud to support health care reform, and we encourage our friends, fans and family to make your voice heard and ask Congress to reform the health care system. In a society in which families are losing their homes due to high medical bills, premiums are rising 4 times faster than wages, and health care costs are the #1 cause of bankruptcy today, whichever side of the aisle you vote for we can all agree that no person should be denied adequate health care simply because they cannot afford it.
